The Tiny Closet Is Changing!
The Tiny Closet will be returning back to its Tiny operations. As I gradually begin downsizing the shop, I have a goal to eventually, return to the (Tiny) lil operation I started with years ago: mainly blogging, with a little collection of handmade pieces on the side.
I’m starting over.
If you don’t know what this means exactly, or you’re new to this community, my shop looks quite different from its first days on the internet. Going on nearly 9 years, I went from sewing a few pieces a week in my living room after work, to having multiple teams and freelancers sewing for me. But growth, while challenging to get going in the beginning, is harder to control than one would think. As small as my business has always been, it grew to be too much and I’m relieved to be returning to simpler operations.
As I’ve mentioned before, last year was another one for the books. Countless businesses, big and small, faced considerable losses and had to close their doors. My business was small and scrappy enough to wait out the storm, but my team and I took a big hit and the downtime gave me a lot of space. Miraculously, it was enough time and space for me to realize, hey, I really like all this space! More time in my day, more space in my brain. I’ve found I’m more at peace than I’ve been in years.
Business will surely spring up again. It always does. But while it’s down, I think now might be the perfect time for me to get off - stay right here, before things spring back up and I’m catapulted once again into a job and a life that’s frankly, way too busy for me.
So! What does downsizing look like? Well, for starters, I’ve already taken over sewing your orders again(!). For the past several months, I’ve been quietly stepping in and sewing your pieces here and there, (which I think makes them extra special) and now, I’ve come full circle, sewing all orders as I did in the beginning.
With all pieces being sewn in-house, a few areas of operation have been updated:
Stock volume is much smaller. I am selling smaller quantities of all styles.
Returns and exchanges are welcomed for store credit only. Please see policy updates.
Various styles will be retired over time. So once an item is sold out, it will likely not be restocked. This will always be announced ahead of time.
New items will eventually be released one by one, and while I’ll keep all of my subscribers in the know with release announcements, new pieces won’t be on any specific schedule. One thing that won’t change is processing times! All items will continue to ship within 2-3 weeks.
If you’re not already signed up for news and happenings here at the shop, please subscribe! And I’ll keep you up to date on the changes that will continue to happen throughout this year. And of course, you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me: customercare@thetinycloset.com. This is everything I know for now, and hopefully, I’ll have a better vision of the future as time passes. Love ya.
